1/1/24 State of the Club Report

By

2023 was a good year for FCS and a much better year when compared to 2019 – 2022, attendance wise.

Attendance Highlights:

  • Our attendance was 407 people, 122 more people than in 2022, and tied for our 15th best.
  • We had 68 events, 14 more events than in 2022, and our 5th best.
  • We averaged 5.99 participants/event, .71 participant/event better than 2022, and our 31st best.  This is not a significant concern, as we can only have limited numbers of participants for our self-guided duck hunts, blasts and casts, and self-chartered bay and freshwater fishing trips due to the number of people that we can fit on boats.  Such trips account for more than 1/3 of our trips.
  • The 3/2/23 Guided Chukar and Quail Hunt had the most participants yet (eight).
  • The inaugural 11/02/23 Chartered Crappie Fishing Trip had four participants.
  • The 9/24/23 Guided Teal Hunt tied for the third most participants (four).
  • Our self-guided duck and teal hunts had our second best number of participants with 36.
  • Our self-chartered freshwater fishing trips had our third best number of participants with 50.
  • Our self-guided duck and teal hunts had our third most hunts with nine.
  • Our self-guided duck and teal hunts tied for the second-best average number of participants per hunt (4.00).

Website Highlights:

The website is stable and there are no issues.

Facebook Page Highlights:

We now have 401 members of our FCS Facebook group.  There are no issues.

Officers:

I’d still be happy for someone to take over the Semi-guided Hog Hunt Czar, Guided Upland Bird Hunt Czar, and Secretary jobs from me.  For general officer expectations and the Event Coordinators’ and Secretary’s job descriptions, see Section IV. Officers in the Bylaws.  Many hands make light work.

2024:

We have 81 events planned this year.  See our Calendar for details, including the list of officers overseeing events.

I acknowledge that this is ambitious.  Historically we’ve never been able to pull off the number of events that we planned for a variety of factors such as a lack of interest, a lack of game, unforeseen personal conflicts, etc.

I hope to see you at an FCS event in 2024.

Pursuing God’s way,

Randy Rowley
