12/7/02 Sporting Clays Shoot
Ten members and three youth members (13 participants, 10 shooters) had a fun time at the 12/7/02 Quarterly Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. Capitol City once again set and challenging course with several new targets since our last shoot there (6/29/02). We had absolutely no problems with Capitol City employees (unlike our 6/29/02 sporting clays shoot). Kenny Hill took home the First Place Trophy with 38/50. Larry Dowden took home the Second Place Trophy with 27/50. Derrich Pollock and Randy Rowley tied for third with 22/50 but Derrich took home the Third Place Trophy after a sudden death shoot off. Tim Price was next with 21/50 but he shot with a turkey choke in his gun (a training technique for a more precise aim). He was followed by Jesse Price with 20/50, Ron Denison with 18/50, Charles Cutchens with 12/50, Kevin Wall with 10/50, and Isaac Price with 8/50. This was Kevin’s and Isaac’s first sporting clays shoot.
8/17/02 Skeet Shoot
Eleven participants (10 shooters) had a fun time at the 8/17/02 Quarterly Skeet Shoot at the Austin Skeet Range. Only one round was shot because one of the ranges was broke. Tim Price came in first place with 23/25. Larry Dowden and Kenny Hill tied for second place with 22/25. Warren Hoke came in third with 18/25. Jim Martinez was next with 17/25. He was followed by Hubert Jarc with 16/25. Jim Kesterson was next with 12/25. He was followed by Isaac Price with 10/25. Jesse Price and Henry Martinez were next with 8/25.
6/29/02 Sporting Clays Shoot
Eleven shooters had a fun time at the 6/29/02 Quarterly Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. Capitol City once again set a new and challenging course. David Chalmers took home the First Place Trophy with 28/50. Warren Hoke took home the Second Place Trophy with 27/50. Jesse Price and Rusty Owen came in third place with 23/50 (Jesse took home the Third Place trophy). They were followed by John Partridge and me, Randy Rowley, with 22/50, T.J. Lubina with 21/50, Ron Denison with 20/50, Karl Bremer with 19/50, Jordan Bremer with 18/50, and Larry Dowden with 16/50. Except for Jesse and the first time shooters with the Club (Karl, Jordan, and Rusty) everyone shot below their average. The lower scores were more indicative of the tougher course rather than poorer shooting.
3/9/02 Sporting Clays Shoot
Eleven participants (eight shooters) had a real challenge at the 3/9/02 Quarterly Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. Capitol City has significantly improved their course. First, they cleared away some brush. Secondly, they added several automatic throwers to the course. The throwers often sent birds in to the shooter from different directions. One station (a on-report station) saw only one target hit in 32 shots. John Partridge, in his first ever sporting clays shoot, took home the First Place Trophy with 27/50. Tim Price took home the Second Place Trophy with 26/50. Larry Dowden took home the Third Place Trophy with 24/50. He was followed by Randy Rowley and Ron Denison with 19/50, Ryan Rowley with 17/50, Jesse Price with 12/50, and Dennis Koch with 7/50. Except for Ryan and John (who had no prior average), everyone shot below their averages.
