5/9/13 Wild Game Dinner (Ministry Event)
Three officers, four members, and one guest (eight total participants) had a great time at the 5/9/13 Wild Game Dinner (Ministry Event) at the St. George’s Court Senior Housing Apartments. We fed 25 residents of St. George’s Court venison, axis deer, duck, dove, feral hog, hybrid bass, redfish, black drum, and gator! Sides included onion rings, french fries, hush puppies, potato salad, and cole slaw. St. George’s residents threw in home made cole slaw, deserts, and drinks.
The St. George’s Court residents who were present enjoyed the meal immensely and several of them took home left-overs. They were very appreciative and presented Randy Rowley with a framed certificate.
Many volunteers made this event possible, including:
- Ken Miller for making venison spaghetti
- Randy Rowley for making Bite Back Chili (venison/gator)
- Charlie Batts, Eric Bonugli, Dan Carlson, Jeff Cates, Ken Miller, Mark Moore, Jose Primera, Randy Rowley, Daryl Shipper for donating game of various sorts
- Jeff Cates, Ron Denison, John Laisy, Mark Moore, Chris Rowley, Randy Rowley, and Daryl Shipper for helping out at the event
- Ron Denison for bringing his grill
- John Laisy for donating $10 to the ministry fund
Thank you all very much!
1/12/13 Wild Game Cook-off (Ministry Event)
One officer, three members, and four guests (eight total participants) had a great time at the 1/12/13 Wild Game Cook-off at Hill Country Bible Church. There were around 25 cook teams and FCS was invited to be one of them. The teams fed around 350 people! FCS came in second place in the competition! We cooked venison, duck, dove, sea trout, chicken, and pork. 24 people signed up to be on our FCS Google Group (distribution list). We would like to thank Greg Moerbe and Richard Corbin for putting this together, especially Kenneth Kidd for bringing his smoker and for doing most of the cooking, and Burl Fulenwider, Mark Feser, and first time guests Binh Chu, Ross Dudek, and Kevin Ward for helping. Condiserable planning and logistics went into pulling this event off. Thank our guys when you seen them. There were washer and bean bag games, a Gospel demonstration by Hank Hough (a duck hunter with Kingdom Dog Ministries) and his Labrador (with 72 professions of faith/rededications), and a Country Music band. Door prizes included:
- Fishing gear
- A seat in a CHL class
- A camo coated shotgun
- Ammunition
- A deer call kit (includes DVD)
- A one-year FCS membership and FCS shirt
