Steve and Bruce shot the 300 target National Championship event on 10/21-10/22, which consisted of four 75 target courses (Red, Green Yellow, Orange). The targets were considered more difficult than years past, and the scores reflected it. A front blew in the morning of 10/22 while we were on the 3rd station, and was strong enough to blow one of the targets into the trees. The target setter was called in to make a slight adjustment to the station to eliminate the problem. On 10/21, then same problem occurred at the start of the 100 target Super Sporting event, when another cold front blew in with 30 mph winds. The tournament was a test for all shooters, with no easy shots. A shooter had to work hard for every target hit. There were a total of 2,020 shooters in the tournament, with 139 shooters from around the world, including two from Russia.
In the 300 target National Championship Event – Steve Baker shot a 205/300 in Class AA, while Bruce Crockett shot a 212/300 in B Class. He will be contacting them to determine which gun he won.

Three members (Bruce Crockett, Ken Miller, & Tim Price) and two guests (JR McBryde and Loy Vickers) had a great time at the FCS 24 hour shoot located at the 74 Resort Ranch in Campbellton, Texas. Our group arrived before noon, checked into our rooms, and headed to the dining room for a wonderful Italian lunch. Afterwards, we picked up a refreshment cooler, a gas cart, and headed out to shoot on the 3 mile sporting clays course. There was a good selection of targets, but most were pretty challenging. That evening, we were served an outstanding meal of 16oz New York strip steaks and all the trimmings. The meal was finished off with a choice of fabulous desserts.
The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast before heading back out on the sporting clays course. The weather was perfect with little to no wind. At noon, we headed back to the dining room one last time for a wonderful lunch. We finished out the day with a little practice on the pistol/rifle range.
As in previous years, it was hard to say which was better, the food or the unlimited clays! The only thing for sure is we can’t wait to return next year!
