12/29/18 – ‘Year End Finale’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Lamar Denney, Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Christian Spies, Erica Spies, and Jonathan Fleming participated in the ‘Year End Finale” NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital Clays in Austin on 12/29/18. In the morning, the weather was in the low 40’s with cloudy skies and very windy. There were a total of 84 shooters in the tournament. Dan Carlisle, a world renowned Olympic skeet champion, set the targets for the tournament.
In the 100 target Preliminary Event, Dan Carlisle set some challenging targets that were made more difficult with the windy conditions. In Master Class, Lamar shot a 76/100 and Steve shot a 69/100. In A Class, Christian shot a 71/100 for 1st place and Bruce Crockett shot a 65/100. In Class D, Johnathan shot a 49/100 for 3rd place and Erika shot a 35/100.
In the 100 target Main Event, Lamar shot a 87/100 and Steve shot a 79/100 in Master Class. In A Class, Christian shot a 74/100 for 1st place tie and Bruce shot a 68/100. In Class D, Johnathan shot a 72/100 for 3rd place.
In the 50 Target 5-Stand Event, Steve shot a 39/50 in Master Class, Christian Spies shot a 36/50 for 3rd place in Class A, and Jonathan shot a 37/50 for 1st place in D Class.
12/15/18 – Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot
Seven shooters (including first time guest Andrew Armstrong) had a good time at the 12/15/18 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot at Capital Clays. The weather was slightly windy and 44 degrees in the morning but later warmed up to 61 degrees. The scores were as follows:

One participant had a good time at the 12/9/18 LTC Class with Charles Dear at the Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls.
12/08/18 – ‘Christmas Clays Fun’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Christian and Erica Spies participated in the ‘Christmas Clays Fun’ NSCA Tournament at Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls on 12/08/18. There were a total of 23 shooters in the tournament.
In the 100 target Main Event, Christian shot a 90/100 for 1st place in Class A, while Erica shot a 39/100 in Class D.
In the 50 target Super Sporting Event, Christian shot a 46/50 for 1st in Class A.
In the 50 Target 28 gauge Event, Christian Spies shot a 37/50 for 1st place in Class A.
11/17/18 – Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot
Eleven shooters (including first time guest Jonathan Valenzuela) had a good time at the 11/17/18 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot at Capital Clays. The weather was calm and 44 degrees in the morning but later warmed up to 74 degrees. The scores were as follows:

11/11/18 – ‘Give’em the Bird’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Bruce Crockett, Christian Spies, and Jonathan Fleming participated in the ‘Give’em the Bird” NSCA Tournament at Capital Clays in Austin on 11/11/18. In the morning, the weather was in the 40’s with cloudy skies and no wind, however, light rain began to fall in the afternoon during the other events. There were a total of 96 shooters in the tournament.
In the 100 target Main Event, Bruce Crockett shot a 82/100 for 1st place in Class A, Christian Spies shot a 78/100 for 3rd place in Class B, and Jonathan Fleming shot a 73/100 for 3rd place in Class D.
In the 100 target Preliminary Event, Bruce Crockett shot a 92/100 for 1st place in Class A, Christian Spies shot a 91/100 for 1st in Class B, and Jonathan Fleming shot a 83/100 for 2nd place in Class D.
In the 50 Target 5-Stand Event, Christian Spies shot a 38/50 for 2nd place in Class B, while Jonathan Fleming shot a 34/50 for a 3rd place in D Class.
10/20/18 – 10/28/18 – ‘NSCA National Sporting Clays Championship Tournament
Lamar Denney, Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Jonathan Fleming, and Christian Spies participated in the ‘NSCA National Sporting Clays Championship ‘ Tournament at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio 10/20/18 thru 10/28/18. There were a total of 2,132 shooters in the tournament.

10/07/18 – ‘Copperhead Canyon Challenge’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker and Jonathan Fleming participated in the ‘Copperhead Canyon Challenge” NSCA Tournament at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls on 10/07/18. There were a total of 40 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main, Steve shot a 93/100 for 2nd place in Master Class, while Jonathan Fleming shot a 77/100 for 3rd place in Class D.
In the 50 Target Super Sporting Event, Steve Baker shot a 46/50 for 2nd place in Master Class, while Joanthan Fleming shot a 44/50 for a 1st place in D Class.
In the 28 Gauge Event, Steve Baker shot a 40/50 for 1st place in Master Class.
10/6/18 – Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot
Six shooters had a good time at the 10/6/18 Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capital Clays. The scores were as follows:

Randy, Earl, and Burl probably wouldn’t have shot as well, as they shot Station 6 as on-report, while Mike, Paul, and Jackson shot it as true pairs (Randy’s team didn’t read the sign that recommends how to shoot the station, as they were busy trying to figure out which two of the four traps to shoot).
9/29/18 – ‘Capital City Patriot Day’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Lamar Denney, and Christian Spies participated in the ‘Patriot Day’ NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 9/29/18. There were a total of 106 shooters in the tournament.
In the Preliminary Event, Lamar Denney shot a 94/100 in Masters Class for 2nd place tie, while Christian Spies shot a 79/100 in Class B.
In the Main Event, Lamar Denney shot a 91/100 in Masters Class, while Christian Spies shot a 81/100 for 3nd place in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Lamar Denney a 44/50 in Master Class, while Christian Spies shot a 39/50 in Class B.
9/22/18 – ‘Copperhead Octoberfest’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker and Christian Spies participated in the ‘Octoberfest” NSCA Tournament at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls on 9/22/18. There were a total of 29 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main, Steve Baker shot a 79/100 for 2nd place in Master Class, while Christian Spies shot a 69/100 for 2nd place in Class B.
In the 50 Target Super Sporting Event, Steve Baker shot a 42/50 for 2nd place in Master Class, while Christian Spies shot a 45/50 for a 1st place in B Class.
In the 28 Gauge Event, Steve Baker shot a 37/50 for 1st place in Master Class, while Christian Spies shot a 35/50 for 1st place in B Class.
8/18/18 – Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot
Nineteen shooters participated in the monthly FCS Sporting Clays shoot at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club on Saturday, 8/18/18. We had a great crowd with four new guests and one new member (Jeff Morris). After the shoot, we went over scores, covered upcoming events, had a short devotional by Bruce Crockett, and presented FCS caps for sale.

Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Lamar Denney, Christian Spies, and Jonathan Fleming participated in the ‘Copperhead Open” NSCA Tournament at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls on 8/12/18. The weather was calm and comfortable for an August morning. There were a total of 60 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main, Lamar Denney shot a 96/100 in Masters Class for 1st Place, Steve Baker shot a 83/100 in Master Class, Bruce Crockett shot a 86/100 in A Class for 2nd Place, Christian Spies shot a 85/100 in Class B for a 1st Place tie, and Jonathan Fleming shot a 76/100 for 1st Place in Class D.
In the 75 Target Super Sporting Event, Lamar Denney shot a 73/75 for 1st Place in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 66/75 in Master Class, Bruce Crockett shot a 69/75 for 2nd Place in A Class, Christian Spies shot a 64/75 for a 3nd Place tie in B Class, and Jonathan Fleming shot a 59/75 for 1st Place in D Class.
In the 20 Gauge Event, Lamar Denney shot a 45/50 for 1st Place in Masters Class, Christian Spies shot a 47/50 for 2nd Place in Class B, and Jonathan Fleming shot a 45/50 for 1st Place in D Class.
In the 28 Gauge Event, Steve Baker shot a 41/50 in Master Class, while Christian Spies shot a 42/50 for a 2nd Place tie in B Class.
7/21/18 – ‘Clayfest’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Bruce Crockett and Christian Spies participated in the ‘Clayfest” NSCA Tournament at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio on 7/21/18. There were a total of 308 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main Event, Bruce Crockett shot a 75/100 in Class A, while Christian Spies shot a 71/100 in Class B.
In the Super Sporting Event, Christian shot a 44/50 for 1st Place in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Christian shot a 35/50 in Class B.
7/14/18 – ‘Capital City Classic’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Lamar Denney, Christian Spies, Erica Spies, and Jim McGee participated in the ‘Firecracker Special” NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 7/14/18. There were a total of 134 shooters in the tournament.
In the Preliminary Event, Lamar Denney shot a 93/100 in Masters Class for 3rd highest score, Steve Baker shot a 87/100 for 1st place in Class AA, Bruce Crockett shot a 84/100 for 1st Place in A Class, Christian Spies shot a 78/100 in Class B, while Erica Spies shot a 29/100 in Class D. Steve received his 20th punch from his 1st Place finish, which will move him to Masters Class. Congratulations to Steve!

7/7/18 – ‘Freedom Clays’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Christian Spies participated in the ‘Freedom Clays” NSCA Tournament at Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls on 7/7/18. There were a total of 86 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main Event, Christian shot a 72/100 in Class B.
In the Super Sporting Event, Christian shot a 45/50 for 1st Place in Class B.
In the 20 gauge event, Christian shot a 33/50 in Class B.
In the 28 gauge event, Christian shot a 41/50 for 1st Place in Class B.
7/7/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot
Thirteen shooters participated in the monthly FCS Sporting Clays shoot at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club on Saturday 7/7/18. The weather was comfortable due to cloudy conditions, and a pending rainstorm. We were able to complete the shoot just before it began to rain. After the shoot, we went over scores, then covered upcoming events.

Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Lamar Denney, and Christian Spies participated in the ‘Capital Classic” NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 6/30/18. The weather reached 100 degrees that day, with wind gusting between 22-25 mph. While the wind keep things comfortable, it tended to move the targets around. There were a total of 122 shooters in the tournament.
In the Prelim Event, Lamar Denney shot a 96/100 in Masters Class for 1st Place, Steve Baker shot a 82/100 in Class AA, Bruce Crockett shot a 83/100 in B Class for a 1st Place tie, and Christian Spies shot a 77/100 in Class B. Bruce received his 11th & 12th punch from his 1st Place finish, which will move him to A Class.
In the Main Event, Lamar Denney shot a 92/100 for 3rd place in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 82/100 for a 2nd place tie in Class AA, Bruce Crockett shot a 74/100 for a 5th place tie in Class B, while Christian Spies shot a 72/100 in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Lamar Denney shot a 38/50 in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 35/50 in Class AA, and Christian Spies shot a 30/50 in Class C.
6/16/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot
Thirteen shooters participated in the monthly FCS Sporting Clays shoot at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club on Saturday 6/16/18. The weather was pleasant for a mid-June event. After the shoot, we went over scores, upcoming events, and Bruce Crockett presented a short devotional called Beware of Dog. We had two first time shooters – Vince Berry and Alexa Miller (first time guest).

Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Lamar Denney, Christian Spies, and Erica Spies participated in the ‘McBride’s Open” NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 5/20/18. The day started out cloudy, which turned to rain later in the afternoon. There were a total of 96 shooters in the tournament.
In the Prelim Event, Christian Spies shot a 64/100 in Class C, while Erica Spies shot a 20/100 in Class D.
In the Main Event, Lamar Denney shot a 90/100 in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 84/100 in Class AA, and Bruce Crockett shot a 77/100 in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Lamar Denney shot a 38/50 in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 43/50 for 1st Place in Class AA, and Christian Spies shot a 31/50 in Class C.
5/12/18 – Annual FCS Open Sporting Clays Tournament
Nineteen people attended the annual tournament at the Capitol City Trap and Skeet Club and luncheon at La Palapa. We had excellent weather. We shot 100 rounds on the Main course that had been configured as a Corporate shoot level of difficulty. First time FCS shooter Christian Spies claimed the title of champion with a score of 95 (47/48), a new FCS Open record! The shooters and their scores were:

4/29/18 – ‘Bluebonnet Special’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, and Lamar Denney participated in the ‘Bluebonnet Special” NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 4/29/18. It was a nice clear, cool Spring day. There were a total of 121 shooters in the tournament.
In the Prelim Event, Steve Baker shot a 77/100 in Class AA, while Bruce Crockett shot a 74/100 in Class B.
In the Main Event, Lamar Denney shot a 91/100 in Masters Class, Steve Baker shot a 86/100 for 1st Place in in Class AA, and Bruce Crockett shot a 69/100 in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Steve Baker shot a 45/50 for 2nd Place in Class AA.
4/13/18 – 4/14/18 – 24-hour Sporting Clays Shoot
Five members (Bruce Crockett, Michael Armstrong, Kenny Hill, Ron & Alex Denison) and two guests (March Swiatek & Jim Bradley) had a great time at the FCS 24 hour shoot located at the 74 Resort Ranch in Campbellton, Texas. Our group arrived before noon, checked into our rooms, and headed to the dining room for a wonderful lunch. Afterwards, we picked up a refreshment cooler, a gas golf cart, and headed out to shoot on the 3 mile sporting clays course. There was a good selection of targets, but most were pretty challenging. That evening, we were served an outstanding meal of 16oz New York strip steaks and all the trimmings. The meal was finished off with a choice of fabulous desserts.
The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast before heading back out on the sporting clays course. The weather was perfect on Friday with little to no wind, however, a front blew in that night and conditions were winder on Saturday. At noon, we headed back to the dining room one last time for a wonderful lunch.
As in previous years, it was hard to say which was better, the food or the unlimited clays! The only thing for sure is we can’t wait to return next year!
4/7/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot
Eight shooters participated in the monthly FCS Sporting Clays shoot at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. A strong cold front blew in the night before, which resulted in an early morning temperature of 43 degrees and wind gusts of 20-30 mph at shoot time. Plus they had reset the 50 round corporate course, making it more difficult. We broke into two squads and had fun competing for the best scores. After the shoot, we went over scores, upcoming events, and Randy Rowley closed our our event with a devotional called Catchers of Men. We had two first time shooters – Kyle Berry (new member) and Jackson Moore (first time guest).

Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, and Lamar Denney participated in the ‘March Madness” NSCA Tournament at Capital Trap and Skeet in Austin on 3/24/18. It was a nice Spring day with a temperature range from 69 to 84 degrees. There were a total of 126 shooters in the tournament.
In the Prelim Event, Lamar Denney shot a 96/100 for 3rd place in Master Class, Steve Baker shot a 83/100 in Class AA, and Bruce Crockett shot a 86/100 for a 1st place tie in Class B.
In the Main Event, Lamar Denney shot a 87/100 in Master Class, Steve Baker shot a 76/100 in Class AA, and Bruce Crockett shot a 73/100 in Class B.
In the 5-Stand event, Steve Baker shot a 40/50 in Class AA.
3/10/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot

Steve Baker and Michael Armstrong participated in the ‘Fantastic Feb Clay Shoot’ Tournament at Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls on 2/17/18. There were a total of 66 shooters in the tournament.
In the Main Event, Steve Baker shot a 84/100 in Class AA, while Michael Armstrong shot a 28/100 in Class E. This was Michael’s first registered tournament.
In the Super Sporting, Steve Baker shot a 46/50 for 2nd place in Class AA.
In the 20 gauge, Steve Baker shot a 42/50 in Class AA.
2/10/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot
Eleven shooters had a great time at the monthly FCS Sporting Clays shoot at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. The weather was foggy but the wind was calm and in the 60’s at the time of the shoot. We broke into two squads and had fun competing for the best scores on the 50 round corporate course. We had two first time guests for sporting clays – Darrel Barnette and Chris Gibbs. There was light rain at times during the Prelim Event, but pushed thru in the afternoon when the Main Event was shot. There were a total of 93 shooters in the tournament.

1/20/18 – Monthly Sporting Clays Shoot
Seven shooters enjoyed a pleasant mid-50’s and calm day at this month’s sporting clays shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. We broke into two squads and had fun competing for the best scores on the 50 round corporate course. We had one first time visitor – Jeff Singh. Afterwards, upcoming events were covered including the FCS 24 Hour Sporting Clays shoot in April at the 74 Resort Ranch in Campbellton. 1/13/18 – ‘New Year’s Clay Opener’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker participated in the ‘New Year’s Clay Opener’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at the Copperhead Creek Shooting Club in Marble Falls on 1/13/18. There were a total of 54 shooters in the tournament.
In the New Year’s Clay Opener Main Event Steve shot a 76/100 in Class AA, while in the Super Sporting Event Steve shot a 39/50.
