Steve Baker and Bruce Crockett participated in the 12/01/19 ‘Buck ‘n’ Clays’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital Clays in Austin. The Prelim course was set a little more difficult which was reflected by the lower overall scores. Bruce Crockett was awarded two punches for his first and second place finishes which put his total punches in Class A to fourteen. The fourteen punches advances him from Class A to Class AA. There were a total of 84 shooters participating in the tournament.

9/14/19 – ‘Patriot Day’ 2019 NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Lamar Denney, Steve Baker, and Bruce Crockett participated in the 9/14/19 ‘Patriot Day’ Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital Clays in Austin. Dan Carlisle, former Olympic trap and skeet medal winner, set the targets for the preliminary and main courses for this tournament. The targets were more difficult and technical than a typical tournament, and were a good warmup for the National Sporting Clays Championship in October. As a result, the overall scores were lower than normal. There were a total of 117 shooters participating in the tournament.

Seven participants (Lamar Denney, Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Jim McGee, Jonathan Fleming, Christian Spies, and Erica Spies) participated in the 7/27/19 Firecracker Special NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital Clays in Austin, tying our record for the most participants. Our group had six 1st place, one 2nd Place, and three 3rd Place finishes. There were a total of 124 shooters participating in the tournament.

6/15/19 – ‘Capital City Classic’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, Christian Spies, and Jonathan Fleming participated in the 6/15/19 Capital City Classic NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital Clays. The weather was windy the entire day, which caused hats to be blown off the head at times; however, it kept the 95 degree temperature from being unpleasant. Our FCS shooters did well against the competition with three 1st place, one 2nd Place, and one 3rd Place. There were a total of 124 shooters participating in the tournament.

6/1/19 Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot – FCS Open
Five shooters had a good time at the annual 6/01/19 FCS Open at Capital Clays. The weather was hot and humid but was welcomed from the Spring rains that had postponed the original date of this shoot. We had originally planned to shoot the corporate targets on the Blue Course, however, Capital Clays hadn’t converted the Blue course from a previous corporate shoot the day before, and therefore didn’t have four traps per station reconfigured for tournament and corporate setup. Instead, we shot the eight stations of the Red corporate course, and four stations of the White Course.
We had one first time guests, Blair Mosley, co-worker of Paul Ellis. The scores were as follows:

4/12/19 – 4/13/19 – 24 Hour Sporting Clays Shoot – Campbellton, TX
One member (Bruce Crockett) and three guests (Marc Swiatek, Jim Bradley, and Jeff Dozier) had a great time at the FCS 24 hour shoot located at the 74 Resort Ranch in Campbellton, Texas. Our group arrived before noon, checked into our rooms, and headed to the dining room for a wonderful lunch. Afterwards, we picked up a refreshment cooler, a gas golf cart, and headed out to shoot on the 3 mile sporting clays course. There was a good selection of targets, but most were pretty challenging. That evening, we were served an outstanding meal of 16 oz. New York strip steaks and all the trimmings. The meal was finished off with a choice of fabulous desserts.
The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast before heading back out on the sporting clays course. The weather was perfect on Saturday with little to no wind. At noon, we headed back to the dining room one last time for a wonderful lunch.

Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, and Christian Spies participated in the 3/23/19 March Registered Clay NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament in Marble Falls. The weather was calm and mild for the tournament. There were 93 shooters participating in this event. Our FCS shooters did very well, with Christian Spies picking up 3 punches with three 1st place finishes. Steve Baker and Bruce Crockett finished with 2nd Place finishes. Christian has now advanced to AA Class based on his performance today. The results are as follows:

Nine shooters had a good time at the 3/09/19 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot at Capital Clays. The weather forecast predicted mid-morning storms, so the shoot was postponed until 10:00 a.m. The storm ended up being further to the north, and didn’t affect the event. The weather was mild, and the temperature later hit a high of 87. We had two first time guests, Eric Landry, pastor of Brett Mercer’s church, and his son Drew Landry. The scores were as follows:

2/16/19 – ‘February Registered Shoot’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament
Lamar Denney, Steve Baker, Bruce Crockett, and Christian Spies participated in the 2/16/19 ‘February Registered Clay Match’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls. A cold front had blown in late Friday night and the temperature was in the low 40’s, which was a big change from the previous day’s high of 90 degrees. The Sporting Clays course at Copperhead Creek is situated along a ridge line that overlooks the beautiful hill country. They have expanded the Main course from 12 stations to 17 stations, so the tournament was configured with 16 three pair and 1 two pair stations. Lamar Denney won the Main Event over a total of 61 shooters. The scores were:

In the 100 target Main Event, Christian shot a 75/100 in Class A.

Steve Baker participated in the 1/19/19 ‘January Registered Clay Match’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls. There were a total of 19 shooters. A cold front had blown in late Friday night and the wind was very gusty with temperature in the 40’s.

1/12/19 – Monthly FCS Sporting Clays Shoot
Six shooters had a good time at the 1/12/19 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot at Capital Clays. The weather was very gusty and 50 degrees in the morning, with the wind changing the target line for every shot. The scores were as follows:
