Bruce Crockett, Steve Baker, and Jonathan Fleming participated in the NSCA National Championship Tournament at the National Shooting Range in San Antonio on 10/28/22 – 10/30/22.  The total participants were 2,319, up from 2,271 in 2021, 1,762 in 2020, and 2,175 from 2019.  The weather was pleasant on Friday – low wind in the low-70’s, and Saturday morning was cool at 55 degrees.  Bruce and Steve shot with the four-time Ecuadorian National Champion Aldo Buzzone in the K-KUP event on Friday.  Aldo said that they (about 15 Ecuadorian shooters) like to study the targets so that they can replicate them when they return to Ecuador.

On Saturday, Bruce and Steve shot the 28 gauge event with Brian Skeuse, owner of  Regent Chemical and Research, Inc, which owns White Flyer clay targets.  They asked Brian how many targets White Flyer produces each year, he only smiled and said the annual market in the USA is 1.2 billion targets (and White Flyer dominates the market).  So, one of the advantages of shooting in this tournament is the interesting people you have the opportunity meet.

The group arrived before noon, checked into their rooms, and headed to the dining room for a wonderful lunch.  Afterwards, they picked up a refreshment cooler, a gas golf cart, and headed out to shoot on the 3 mile sporting clays course.  There was a good selection of targets, but most were pretty challenging.  That evening, they were served an outstanding meal of 16 oz. Rib-Eye steaks and all the trimmings.  The meal was finished off with a choice of fabulous desserts.

The next morning they had a wonderful breakfast before heading back out on the sporting clays course.  The weather was perfect on Saturday with little to no wind.  At noon, they headed back to the dining room one last time for a wonderful lunch.
