2023 – Ministry Events

10/11/23 Ministry Event (Wild Game Dinner)

Nine participants served the Lord and the residents of St. George’s Court apartments (for people 62 years old and above and/or disabled).  Around 25 residents were fed venison steak, venison sausage links, antelope stew, hog, sandhill crane, dove, rockfish, trout (river and speckled), bass, bonnethead shark, gafftopsail fish, catfish, onion rights, French fries, hush puppies, potato salad, and coleslaw.  The weather was pleasant and a great time was had by all!  The St. George’s Court residents enjoyed the meal immensely and were very appreciative.

Many volunteers made this event possible, from donations to food prep, serving and cleaning.  Thanks to:

  • Christian Bana, Russ Gibbs, Kevin McConnell, Jim McGee, Randy Rowley, Daryl Shipper, and Wayne Weilnau for donating game.
  • Binh Chu for grocery shopping.
  • Christian, Binh, Kevin, Ken Miller, Mark Moore, Randy, Daryl, Wayne, and Tim Zyla for helping out at the event.  Tim was the grill master, Randy was the fry cook, Kevin blacken fish on his induction cooktop, and Wayne made antelope stew.

10/3/23 Ministry Event (National Night Out Dinner)

Six participants served the Lord and the residents of the Pathways at Northgate Apartments (for people who are disabled or involuntarily displaced by a natural disaster or government action) during the National Night Out (“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.  Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. The state of Texas and select areas celebrate the first Tuesday in October”).  We cooked around five dozen burgers and at least that many hot dogs.  Thanks to Christian Bana, Burl Fulenwider, Chris Rowley, Randy Rowley, Daryl Shipper, and Tim Zyla for volunteering.

Bible Verse of the Day

A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD upholds the righteous.
