2026 Shoots Reports

8/8/26 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot

A near-record 27 FCS shooters shot sporting clays (shooting 50 targets) on the Capital City Clays red course (the record is 28)!  Bruce Crockett received the 2025 Shooter of the Year award.  Afterwards eight participants enjoyed great Cajun food at Maxine’s Gumbo House in Manor.  The scores were as follows:

7/11/26 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot (report by Bruce Crockett)

Twelve shooters had a good time on the Red (corporate/hunter) course (shooting 50 targets) at Capital City Clays.  Afterwards, five participants ate lunch at Maxine’s Gumbo House in Manor.  Thanks to Jim McGee for leading the shoot.  The scores were as follows:

Three FCS shooters participated in the ‘Capital City Classic’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital City Clays in Austin.  The scores were as follows:

6/6/26 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot

Nine shooters had a good time at Capital City Clays on an overcast and warm day with little wind.  They shot 50 targets on the red (corporate/hunter) course.  The scores were as follows:

Tim Price – 45 (Tim’s second high score; his highest (46) was on 6/20/15; Tim has been shooting sporting clays with FCS since 1993)

5/23/26 ‘Charlie Parker Memorial’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament

Three FCS shooters participated in the ‘March Madness’ NSCA Sporting Clays Tournament at Capital City Clays in Austin.  There were 89 shooters.  The scores were as follows:

100 Target Main Event

Class B – Bill Atkinson – 67/100

Class D – Ted Gittinger – 72/100 (second place in Class D)

Class D – Brad Versteegh – 66/100

50 Target Super Sporting

Class B – Bill Atkinson – 25/50

5/9/26 Spring FCS Open Sporting Clays Shoot

Eight shooters had a good time at the Fall FCS Open Sporting Clays Shoot at Capital City Clays.  They shot 50 targets on the red (corporate/hunter) course and 50 targets on blue course (the intermittent course; the first 10 stations).  The red course was about the same level of difficulty that it’s been for the last several shoots.  The blue course was much more challenging.  Overall, either the blue course was harder than it was on 10/18/25 or those who shot at both Open’s regressed, as the low score on 10/18/25 was 71/100 and the high score today was 70/100.  The weather was hazy when they arrived, but gave way to bright sunshine.  There was mostly no wind.  The scores were as follows:

Russ Gibbs – 41/50 & 28/50 – 69/100

Randy Rowley – 37/50 & 30/50 – 67/100

4/11/26 FCS Sporting Clays Shoot

Eight shooters had a good time on the Red (corporate/hunter) course (shooting 50 targets) at Capital City Clays on a mostly overcast morning.  The traps had been reset, but the targets were around as challenging as they had been for the last several shoots.  The group didn’t shoot the planned Spring FCS Open as another group was using both the blue and white courses for their shoot.  Afterwards, five participants ate lunch at Maxine’s Gumbo House.  The scores were as follows:

Seven FCS shooters participated in the ‘March Madness’ NSCA Tournament at Capital City Clays in Austin.  Conditions were good, and the targets were fair but challenging.  There were 106 shooters in the tournament.  The scores were as follows:

Eleven shooters had a good time at Capital City Clays on a chilly morning.  They shot 50 targets on the red (corporate/hunter) course.  The scores were as follows:

Two FCS shooters participated in the ‘Clay Hearts ‘ NSCA Tournament at Staccato Ranch in Florence.  It was very windy, particularly the 5-Stand, which made shooting more difficult than normal.  There were 55 shooters in the tournament. The scores were as follows:
