  • Captain Bob Maindelle/Holding the Line Guide Service (white bass fishing trips on Lake Belton) – In our 35 years, we’ve gone on a lot of chartered fishing trips – many have been good, some bad, but most were in-between.  Our 5/5/25, 5/7/24, and 6/5/23 trips with Bob were without a doubt our best trips ever!  No other trips have come close!  Bob’s equipment, knowledge, experience, and ‘no-detail-too small’ attitude resulted in trips that we’ll talk about for years to come (308, 331, and 204 fish respectively)!  Plus he is a gentleman and a really nice guy!  He earned my highest recommendation.  Randy Rowley, FCS president.  Contact Bob at 254-368-7411 or  bob@holdingthelineguideservice.com.

Hall of Shame

FCS had bad experiences with the below businesses/landowners/outfitters/guides and will not rehire or recommend them.  These experiences included lack of game/false representations of the amount and type of game that was being seen, lack of scouting/effort, and/or misrepresentation of lodging and/or food.  Included is the event that we did with them and their location.  Beware of them!

  • Blue Roan Bend Outfitters (duck and goose duck hunt – they didn’t inform us of a lack of game prior to our hunt; near Eagle Lake).
  • Brett Manry (hog hunt – lack of game – sent several pictures of hogs, our six hunters only saw one hog and it was on a neighbor’s property; near Cherokee).
  • Dove Heaven/Double H Outfitters/Justin (opening day dove hunt – not enough game for the number of hunters they had and they put 30 hunters 100 yards from us that shot most of the dove that were heading our way; near San Antonio).
  • Elm Creek Outfitters (an affiliate of theirs) (9/2/18 dove hunt – he didn’t inform us of a lack of game prior to our hunt and was extremely disorganized; near Hutto).
  • Haun Ranch (deer and hog hunt – he didn’t tell us until after we arrived that does were by permit only and only two of our hunters could take one; near Victoria).
  • Heart of Texas Guided Hunts/Texas Thermal Hog Hunts (hog hunt – lack of game, poor quality/worn out thermal sights, and he lied to us regarding lodging and food; near Hubbard).
  • Pinoak Ranch (duck hunt – he didn’t inform us of a lack of game prior to our hunt; near Tehuacana).
  • Simmons Waterfowl Service (duck hunt – lack of game/scouting and his idea of concealment is laughable (sitting on rectangular hay bales in the open); near Fort Worth).
  • Triple Play Outfitters (opening day dove hunt – he didn’t inform us of a lack of game prior to our hunt; near New Braunfels).

FCS members – if you have a business/landowner/outfitter/guide from an FCS trip that you’d like us to consider adding to either of these lists, contact Randy Rowley, FCS president.  Please include details of the encounter.
