Fish Finders

By

What is the best fish finder to buy under 1K?  I looked at the Garmin Echomap.

I have a Garmin Echomap 94SV on Cam’s (my boat’s) center console.  It has very sharp graphics and is touch screen, instead of buttons.  The 93SV has freshwater lake maps and the 94SV has saltwater lake maps (I learned this after I had my 94SV installed).  You can buy a chip to add the bodies of water that are missing (a major design flaw, in my opinion – it should come with all the bodies of water that you need already installed).

I have a Humminbird Helix 7 on Cam’s bow.  My Minn Kota trolling motor is supposed to plot using a Helix 7 or larger, but I’ve not messed with it as my Helix’s GPS has stopped working.

A couple of friends love the Garmin Livescope, but they’re $2,500, which is way outside of my budget.

Lowrance, Humminbird, and Garmin are the Ford’s, Chevy’s, and Dodge’s of the fish finder world.  You really can’t go wrong with any of them.
