2024 – Ministry Events

By

10/1/24 Ministry Event (National Night Out Dinner)

Four participants served the Lord and the residents of the Pathways at Northgate Apartments (for people who are disabled or involuntarily displaced by a natural disaster or government action) during the National Night Out (“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.  Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.  The state of Texas and select areas celebrate the first Tuesday in October”).

The participants cooked around 80 burgers and 40 hot dogs and served around 30 people.  Thanks to Burl Fulenwider, Chris Rowley, Randy Rowley, and Daryl Shipper for volunteering.

5/15/24 Wild Game Dinner Ministry Event

(Report by Tim Zyla)

This past Wednesday, May 15, 2024, seven of our FCS brothers attended our Annual Wild Game Dinner at St Georges Court Apartments.  For those who do not know, this complex houses residents 62 and older who have some sort of disability.

FCS does this ministry event each year and I encourage each one of you to try and attend at least once – there is no better way to serve our God and our community then by helping and serving others in need.

Just about 30 residents enjoyed a menu of fish, game, and other sides – the residents are always happy to see FCS roll in to provide dinner and this year was no different.  They all enjoyed the meal and were very appreciative of all we do for them.

I’d also like to give a shout out to the following members whose donations of duck, quail, dove, pheasant, chukar, white bass, redfish, salmon, trout (river), catfish, and venison burgers, sausage, and stew that made this all possible – Binh Chu, Russ Gibbs, Randy Rowley, Daryl Shipper, Jim Ward, and Wayne Weilnau – it wouldn’t be a “wild game” dinner without their donations.

Additionally I’d like to thank James Miller for his monetary donation which was used in part to provide all the sides consisting of French fries, onion rings, hush puppies, potato salad, and coleslaw.

(Report by Randy Rowley)

I’d also like to thank:

  • Tim Zyla for grocery shopping.
  • Binh, Harley Chu, Jim Miller, Ken Miller, Daryl, and Tim for helping out at the event.  Tim was the grill master and I was the fry cook.
