12/2/07 Buda Chapter Promotion at Cabela’s

Six officers and four members (10 participants) had a great time at the 12/2/07 Buda Chapter Promotion at Cabela’s.  We were set up right in front of the entrance.  Four people joined the Club, five people signed up to be on our email distribution list, and more than 50 people took brochures.

10/6/07 – 10/7/07 Promotion at the TPWD EXPO

Thanks to the generosity of a donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) six officers, four members, one wife, and two sons (13 participants) had a great time at our booth at the 10/6/07 – 10/7/07 TPWD EXPO.  We were in the Merchants Row Tent A.  Our booth featured five mounts (four on a mount board that Tim Price built), our new professional display (donated by an anonymous generous donor) with eleven 8 X 12 pictures and five 8 X 10 pictures, a table with Mark Dillow’s fly tying equipment, and a table with a computer with FCS pictures on a slide show, our reorganized FCS photo album, brochures, 10/27/07 Five Stand and Skeet Shoot and Luncheon benefiting the Christian Women’s Job Corps flyers, and our Raffle Sign-up Sheet.  We gave away a total of five prizes, including:

  1. A Hog Hunt with FCS at the Y.O. Ranch
  2. A Dove Hunt with FCS at either Buda or Woodson
  3. Three skeet shooting lessons from Joe Schram
  4. A fly casting lesson from Mark Dillow
  5. A Sporting Clays Shoot with FCS at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club

We had 283 people sign up for our Raffle so that means that we gave out at least 283 brochures.  Probably about 85% of the people who stopped at our booth stopped because of the raffle.  About 5% stopped to learn to tie a fly, about 5% stopped to look at the mounts and/or pictures, and about 5% stopped to learn about the Club.

I would like to thank the following men: Tim Price for building our mount stand; Eddy Chance and Ron Denison for loaning their mounts for the display, Kenneth Kidd and Jim McGee for helping me to set up the booth; Kenneth, Jim, Jeff Reece, Richard Corbin, Mark Dillow, and Ron for manning the booth; Mark for tying flies; and Ron for helping me to tear down our booth.

Although only one man joined the Club at EXPO (and he was going to join anyway) many seeds were planted.

We also delivered our donations to Operation Orphans and Cross Trail Outfitters.

6/16/07 Legacy Outfitters Outdoor Explore Camping and Fishing Clinic

Three officers, one member, and two spouses (six participants) had a good time at the Legacy Outfitters Outdoor Explore Camping and Fishing Clinic on 6/16/07 at Brushy Creek Lake Park.  We presented the Club to people via two display tables.  On one table Mark Dillow had his fly tying tools.  He had several families stop by and taught several children how to tie flies.  He then gave the children the flies that they tied.  I, Randy Rowley, gave a lecture on a stage with a microphone on freshwater fishing in Texas with conventional tackle.  I also did a demonstration on worm, top water, and crankbait fishing.  There were also demonstrations on fly fishing, orienteering, tent building, fire starting/extinguishing, and campfire cooking.  Legacy Outfitters also had free hotdogs and drinks.
