12/4/97 North Austin Chapter Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held at Mr. Charlie Batts home. Three officers and seven members were present (10 participants). A discussion was held on upcoming events. Business Meeting minutes:
- A proposal was made to increase the annual dues to $20.00 from $15.00. The proposal passed unanimously.
- New T-shirts were made available. They are included with memberships or membership renewals. Members can purchase additional shirts. President’s note: This proposal was presented to the SAC members telephonically. It also passed the SAC unanimously.
11/6/97 South Austin Chapter Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held at New Hope Church. Two SAC officers, one NAC officer and one SAC member were present (four participants). The video “In search of Muy Grande” was shown. A discussion was held on upcoming events. New T-shirts were available for membership renewals or purchase. Business Meeting minutes:
- Two propositions that passed at the 10/2/97 NAC meeting were put before the SAC for a vote.

- Proposition 2: The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen should amend its bylaws regarding conduct (Christian Walk section) to read that 1. The use or possession of Alcohol and illegal drugs are prohibited at FCS outings, 2. The use of profanity is prohibited at FCS outings, and 3. The use of tobacco products is strongly discouraged at FCS outings.
- Proposition 3: The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen should amend its bylaws regarding membership to read that Members shall consist of those men who: Have expressed a desire to be a member by completing a membership application (including agreeing to abide by the FCS bylaws, conduct themselves as a Christian Sportsman and uphold the FCS Statement of Faith) and 2. Have paid a one year, three year or five year membership due. The current requirements to attend at least one FCS outing or meeting and to have been approved as a member by a majority vote of the members present at any official FCS meeting will be deleted. A vote was taken. Both propositions passed unanimously.
10/2/97 North Austin Chapter Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held at Larry Dowden’s home. Three officers, four members, one guest, two junior members, and one child attended (11 participants). The annual questionnaire was distributed. A discussion was held on upcoming events. The video “Fighting Whitetails” and a home video on 4 wheeler riding in the mud were shown. The new T- shirts were available for membership renewals or purchase. Business Meeting minutes:
- The 1997 ballot was distributed. NAC officers for 1/1/98 through 12/31/99 are as follows: President – Eddy Chance, Vice President -Jason Behm, Secretary – Randy Rowley, Treasurer – Larry Dowden.
- Proposition 1: The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen should amend its bylaws regarding conduct (hunting and fishing practices section) to read that only game birds/animals/fish, varmints, or other creatures (such as hogs) that will have their meat and/or pelts used are allowed to be killed on FCS outings. Killing non-game creatures and “leaving them where they lay” is prohibited. For 2, Against 3, Abstain 1 (the proposition failed).
- Proposition 2: The Fellowship of Christian Sportsmen should amend its bylaws regarding conduct (Christian Walk section) to read that 1. - Have paid a one year, three year or five year membership due.
The requirements to attend at least one outing or meeting of the Club and to have been approved as a member by a majority vote of the members present at any official meeting of the Club will be deleted. This would require amending the pre-membership application also. For 6, Against 0, Abstain 0 (the proposition passed). The two propositions that passed will be voted on at the 11/6/97 South Austin Chapter Meeting. If proposition 3 is passed we will include an application at our website and on our brochure.
8/7/97 North Austin Chapter Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held at James Eubank’s home. Four officers, four members, one guest and one junior member attended (10 participants). A discussion was held on upcoming events. The video’s “Doff goes fishing” and “Dove Hunting” were shown.
7/10/97 General Meeting minutes
The meeting was held at Pok- E-Jo’s restaurant on 5th street. Four officers (three NAC and one SAC), three members (two SAC and one NAC) and one guest were present (eight participants, four from the NAC and three from the SAC). The new FCS web page was shown. A discussion was held on upcoming events. An update was given on the search for a new dove lease – a discussion followed.
6/5/97 North Austin Chapter Meeting minutes
The meeting was held at Derrich Pollock’s home. Three officers and three members were present (six participants). A video on deer hunting was shown. A discussion was held on upcoming events. A discussion was held on securing volunteers for a Dove Lease Search Committee.
5/1/97 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes
The meeting was held at New Hope Church. Two officers, one NAC officer and one member were present (four participants). A discussion was held on upcoming events. A discussion was held on securing volunteers for a Dove Lease Search Committee. Business Meeting minutes:
- 1997 officer elections were held. All officers were re-elected for another term.
4/10/97 General Meeting minutes
The meeting, along with a fish fry, was held at New Hope Wesleyan Church. Four SAC officers, one NAC officer, three SAC members, two NAC members, two wives (SAC) and one daughter (SAC) were present (13 total participants, 10 from the SAC and three from the NAC). A video on varmint calling was shown. A discussion was held on upcoming events. A discussion was held on securing volunteers for a Dove Lease Search Committee. Business Meeting minutes:
- A proposal was made to charge a members fee and a non-members fee at events that the Club runs at non- places of business (currently only the Dove Retreats). The non-members fee shall be exactly the cost of membership plus the members fee (currently members pay $30.00 for a dove retreat, non-members would pay $45.00). The non-members can elect to have the extra fee applied as a pre-membership application fee or go towards the Club General Fund. Standard membership bylaws would apply. 2/20/97 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes
The meeting was held at New Hope Wesleyan Church. All four officers, an officer from the North Austin Chapter, two members, a guest, and one wife were present (nine participants). The video “Raging Boars” was shown. A discussion was held on upcoming events. A discussion was held on forming a Dove Lease Search Committee for our next Dove Retreat. If interested in serving on this committee contact either Eddy Chance (North Austin Chapter, 331-7828) or Tom Grass (South Austin Chapter, 929-7243). Business Meeting minutes:
- A discussion was held on charging a members fee and a non-members fee at events that the Club controls the price to a certain degree (currently only the Dove Retreats). The non-members fee shall be exactly the cost of membership plus the members fee (currently members pay $30.00 for a dove retreat, non-members would pay $45.00). The non-members can elect to have the extra fee applied as a pre-membership application fee or go towards the Club General Fund. Standard membership bylaws would apply. A vote was not taken. The discussion was tabled.
- A proposal was made on having one month of the year for membership renewals (January) rather than the current system of renewing on your membership anniversary date. A discussion was held and a vote was taken. The proposal passed unanimously. It already was approved by the North Austin Chapter on 2/6/97. It will take effect on 1/1/98 and will change the bylaws regarding membership to read as follows: Membership renewals will be made available beginning the first month of each calendar year. Current members up for renewal will be given a renewal reminder at the January (Winter) Dove Retreat or have one mailed to them along with the January – March newsletter if they did not attend the Winter Dove Retreat. Men who join at a month other than January (September for example) would still be asked to renew in January with no pro-rata. In that scenario the only membership benefit that they would not receive is three more newsletters.
- A discussion was held on creating an FCS Calendar as a membership benefit for 1998. The calendar will feature only one photograph with the months designed to be torn off when they are through. A Photo Selection Committee will be formed to select the FCS Photo of the year. If interested in serving on the Committee contact Eddy Chance (North Austin Chapter, 331-7828) or Tom Grass (South Austin Chapter, 929-7243).
- A discussion was held on adding a Laser Tag Competition to the FCS Calendar. The event will be held on 7/12/97.
- A proposal was made to purchase name badges for all officers to use at Dove Retreats and other events. A specific badge was passed around for examination. The badge cost $6.50 (total cost for all nine officers would be $58.50. A discussion was held and a vote was taken. The proposal passed unanimously. It will not be implemented until approval by the North Austin Chapter at the next General Meeting.
