12/19/96 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  All four officers, an officer from the North Austin Chapter and two members and one son were present (eight participants).  Issues of the October – December 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the South Austin Chapter President.
  2. A discussion was held on the Annual Winter Dove Retreat scheduled for 1/3/97 – 1/5/97.
  3. A discussion was held on the Annual Sweethearts Dinner tentatively scheduled for 2/28/97.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Archery Hog Hunt scheduled for 3/7/97 – 3/9/97.
  5. The meeting was closed by the South Austin Chapter President.

12/5/96 North Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at Mr. Charlie Batts home.  Three officers and eight members were present (11 participants).  Issues of the October – December 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  Two home videos on hunting were shown.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the North Austin Chapter President.
  2. A discussion was held on the First Ever Paint Ball Competition rescheduled for 12/14/96 at Texas Paint Ball.
  3. A discussion was held on the Annual Winter Dove Retreat scheduled for 1/3/97 – 1/5/97.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Archery Hog Hunt tentatively scheduled for 2/14/97 – 2/16/97.

10/3/96 North Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at James Eubank’s home.  Two officers, two members and two sons were present (six participants).  Issues of the October – December 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  Two videos on deer hunting were shown.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the North Austin Chapter President.
  2. A discussion was held on the next Annual Rifle Range Shoot scheduled for 10/12/96 at the Austin Skeet & Rifle Range.
  3. A discussion was held on the First Ever Fall Family Campout rescheduled for 11/8/96 – 11/9/96 at Pedernales Falls State Park.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Striped Bass Fishing Trip on Lake Buchanan scheduled for 11/30/96.
  5. A discussion was held on the First Ever Paint Ball Competition rescheduled for 12/14/96 at Texas Paint Ball.
  6. Five bylaw amendments were proposed.  A vote was taken.  The proposals passed unanimously.  Section V B. of the bylaws was revised.  It now reads: Any action agreed to by a majority vote of the members present at any chapter official meeting shall constitute an official action of the Club, however, any action that affects the entire Club must be approved by all the Club’s chapters (addition in bold).  Section VI C. of the bylaws was revised.  It now reads: Verbal proposals require a verbal “second” in order to be put to a vote.  Voting for verbal proposals is accomplished through a show of hands.  A majority vote carries, however, any proposal that effects the entire Club must be approved by all the Club’s chapters (addition in bold).  Section VI D. was revised.  It now reads:  Written proposals that are made during the Officer Candidate and Proposal Surveys do not require a “second.”  Voting for said proposals is accomplished through a written ballot.  A majority vote carries, however, any proposal that affects the entire Club must be approved by all the Club’s chapters (addition in bold).  Section VI E. was added.  It reads: Actions or amendment proposals that are not approved by all the Club’s chapters will be addressed at a meeting of the officers from all the Club’s chapters.  If a compromise is achieved, the revised action or amendment proposal must then be presented to the members of the individual chapters for approval.  If a compromise cannot be reached a majority vote of the entire Club membership carries.  The five bylaw amendments were approved by the South Austin Chapter of the Club on 8/8/96, therefore, they went into effect immediately.
  7. The meeting was closed by the North Austin Chapter President.

9/5/96 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  Three officers, one officer from the North Austin Chapter, one member, two guests and two junior members were present (nine participants).  Issues of the July – September 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  A video on bass fishing at Lake Fork was shown.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the South Austin Chapter Chaplain.
  2. A discussion was held on the next Annual Dart Shoot rescheduled for 9/14/96 at Archery Country.
  3. A discussion was held on the next Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat scheduled for 9/19/96 – 9/22/96 at Camel Mills Ranch.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Annual Rifle Range Shoot scheduled for 10/12/96 at the Austin Skeet Range (the location was changed due to Eagle Peak Rifle Range’s temporary <hopefully> closure).
  5. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Striped Bass Fishing Trip scheduled for 10/26/96 on Lake Buchanan.
  6. A discussion was held on the next South Austin Chapter General Meeting scheduled for 11/7/96 at New Hope Wesleyan Church.
  7. A discussion was held on the First Ever North Austin Chapter vs. South Austin Chapter Paintball Competition scheduled for 11/16/96 at Texas Paint Ball.
  8. A discussion was held on the Annual Archery Hog Hunt tentatively scheduled for 2/7/97 – 2/8/97 at Hill Country Hogs Ranch.
  9. A discussion was held on a proposal out of state hunt.   No date or location has been selected yet.
  10. A discussion was held on the ‘How-to” clinics at the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  Two men volunteered to lead clinics.
  11. A discussion was held on the need for Bible teachers at the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.
  12. A discussion was held on firing line safety during the clay target shoots at the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  The members present agreed that there should be one shooter and one back up shooter only.
  13. A discussion was held on securing a door prize or prizes for the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  The members present agreed that a high dollar door prize was not appropriate, instead they agreed that if the price of the hunt was raised the extra funds should go to scholarships for teens who cannot afford the $30.00 hunt fee.
  14. An appeal was made for articles, recipes, cartoon, classifieds, etc. to be submitted to the FCS Secretary for newsletter publication.
  15. The meeting was closed by the South Austin Chapter President.

8/31/96 North Austin Chapter Officers Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at the 290 Cafe in Manor after the Semi Annual Sporting Clays Shoot.  Four officers were present.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the North Austin Chapter President.
  2.   4. A discussion was held on firing line safety during the clay target shoots at the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  The officers agreed that there should be one shooter and one back up shooter only.  This will be presented to the South Austin Chapter officers for discussion.
  5. A discussion was held on securing a door prize or prizes for the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  The matter was tabled for now.  This will be presented to the South Austin Chapter officers for discussion.
  6. A discussion was held on grackle/crow shooting at the Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat.  The Officers agreed that the Club should not openly condone or support the shooting of nuisance birds.  This will be presented to the South Austin Chapter officers for discussion.
  7. The meeting was closed by the North Austin Chapter President.

8/8/96 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  All four officers, an officer from the North Austin Chapter and two members were present (seven total participants).  Issues of the July – September 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  A video on deer hunting was shown.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the South Austin Chapter President.
  2. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays Shoot scheduled for 8/24/96 at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
  3. A discussion was held on the next Annual Dart Shoot scheduled for 9/7/96 at Archery Country.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Annual Fall Dove Hunt/Retreat scheduled for 9/19/96 – 9/22/96 at Camel Mills Ranch.

The meeting was held at Larry Dowden’s home.  Three officers, eight members and one son were present (12 participants).  Issues of the July – September 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  A video on deer hunting was shown.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the North Austin Chapter President.
  2. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays Shoot scheduled for 8/24/96 at Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
  3. A discussion was held on the next Annual Dart Shoot scheduled for 9/7/96 at Archery Country.

6/6/96 North Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at Derrich Pollock’s home.  All five officers, five members, two guests  and one son were present (13 participants).  Issues of the April – June 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the NAC President.
  2. A discussion was held on the Annual Rabbit Hunt scheduled for 6/21 – 6/22/96 at Paul Wilson’s ranch.
  3. A discussion was held on the next NAC General Meeting scheduled for 8/1/96 at Larry Dowden’s home.
  4. A discussion was held on finding an alternative for Rainbow Lake (where we used to hold the Semi Annual Catfish Fishing Outings) due to that facilities closure.
  5. A discussion was held on the Annual Hog Hunt tentatively scheduled for 2/7/97 – 2/8/97. A ranch was located that allows rifle and pistol hunting.  Regardless of which ranch we go to, $55.00 is due to Larry Dowden by 11/1/96 for those who wish to go.
  6. A discussion was held on having a Paintball Competition at Texas Paint Ball between the NAC and SAC in the fall of 1996.
  7. A discussion was held on the Circle of Friends ministry (families “adopting” single parent families). Members were encouraged to adopt a single mom’s family and teach her sons how to hunt and fish.
  8. A discussion was held on purchasing T-shirts or window decals due to a limitation of funds. A vote was taken.  It was decided to purchase T shirts only this year.  Men who join or renew their memberships will continue to receive a patch.  This will not go into effect until approval at the next SAC General Meeting.
  9. A discussion was held on selling Club paraphernalia above cost to raise money. A vote was taken.  It was decided to sell T-shirts, caps, and patches for up to 50% over cost.  Caps will now sell for $9.00.  Patches will now sell for $4.25.  The T-shirt price will be announced as soon as possible.  This also will not go into effect until approval at the next SAC General Meeting.

5/30/96 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  Six members and two guests were present (eight participants).  Issues of the April – June 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  Ballots were distributed.  The officers  for 6/1/96 through 5/51/97 are as follows:  Tom Grass – President, Virgil Vargus – Vice President, Jack Shelton – Treasurer (SAC only) and Mark  Weaver – Chaplain.  Proposition 1 (length of officers terms) was decided as one year terms.  The minutes  from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the NAC Secretary.
  2. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays shoot rescheduled for 6/1/96 at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
  3. A discussion was held on the Annual Rabbit Hunt scheduled for 6/21/96 – 6/22/96 at the High Meadow ranch.
  4. A discussion was held on the next SAC General Meeting scheduled for 7/2596 at New Hope Wesleyan Church.
  5. A discussion was held on finding an alternative for Rainbow Lake (where we used to hold our Semi Annual Catfish Fishing Outings) due to that facilities closure.   Dave Mayfield stated that he had access to a piece of property that had a tank on it with fish.  An outing may be put together in the future.
  6. A discussion was held on the Annual Hog Hunt tentatively scheduled for 2/7 – 2/8/97.  $55.00 is due to Larry Dowden by 11/1/96 for those who wish to go.

4/4/96 North Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at Eddy Chance’s home.  Two officers, seven members, three guests and two sons were present (14 participants).  Issues of the April – June 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the President.
  2. A discussion was held on the Annual Family Camp Out scheduled for 4/12/96 – 4/13/96 at Inks Lake State Park.
  3. A discussion was held on the Annual Lake Buchanan Striped Bass Fishing Trip rescheduled for 4/27/96.
  4. A discussion was held on the Annual Guadalupe River Canoe Trip scheduled for 5/11/96.
  5. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays shoot rescheduled for 6/1/96 at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
  6. A discussion was held on the next NAC General Meeting scheduled for 6/6/96 at Derrich Pollock’s home.
  7. A discussion was held on finding an alternative for Rainbow Lake (where we used to hold our Semi Annual Catfish Fishing Outings) due to that facilities closure.  Mark Weaver knows a gentleman who owns a piece of property that has a stream that runs through it with deep holes that hold catfish.  Mark will help put an outing together.
  8. A discussion was held on the Annual Hog Hunt tentatively scheduled for 2/7/97 – 2/8/97.  $55.00 is due to Larry Dowden by 11/1/96 for those who wish to go.
  9. A proposal was made by Eddy Chance to elect Randy Rowley as Club Secretary.  An opportunity was given for other members to  run for Secretary.  There were no takers.  A vote was taken.  Randy was elected unanimously.

3/28/96 South Austin Chapter Meeting minutes

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  Seven members and five guests were present (12 participants).  Issues of the January – March 1996 Hunting His Way and several flyers were distributed.  Ballot surveys were distributed as well as officer job descriptions and a questionnaire.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the Vice President Emeritus/Editor.
  2. A discussion was held on a brief history of the Club.
  3. A discussion was held on the next North Austin Chapter General Meeting scheduled for 4/4/96 at Eddy Chance’s home.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Annual Family Camp Out scheduled for 4/12/96 – 4/13//96 at Inks Lake State Park.
  5. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays shoot scheduled for 4/27/96 at Capitol City Trap & Skeet.
  6. A discussion was held on the next Annual Canoe trip scheduled for 5/11/96 down the Guadalupe River.

3/17/96 Officers Meeting

The meeting was held at Shoney’s on 183.  Two officers and the editor were present.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was opened by the President.
  2. A discussing was held on the First Ever FCS South Austin General Meeting scheduled for 3/28/96 at New Hope Church.
  3. A discussion was held on the next General Meeting scheduled for 4/4/96 at Larry Dowden’s home.  Due to the fact that Larry and family are going out of town on the night in question the meeting will be held at Eddy Chance’s home.
  4. A discussion was held on the next Annual Family Camp Out scheduled for 4/12/96 – 4/13//96 at Inks Lake State Park.
  5. A discussion was held on the next Semi Annual Sporting Clays shoot scheduled for 4/27/96 at Capitol City Trap & Skeet.
  6. A discussion was held on the next Annual Canoe trip scheduled for 5/11/96 down the Guadalupe River.

  11. A discussion was held on having a Movie Review column in the newsletter with either a wing up or wing down on the movie’s merits.
  12. A discussion was held on bring the Club tapes and books to meetings for members to check out.
  13. A discussion was held on creating an FCS calendar as an alternative to caps and T-shirts.
  14. The meeting was closed by the President.

2/8/96 General Meeting

The meeting was held at New Hope Church.  No officers, six members and five guests were present (11 participants).  Issues of the January – March 1996 Hunting His Way were distributed.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was called to order by the Vice President Emeritus/Editor.
  2. A reminder was made concerning the next Sweethearts Dinner scheduled for 2/23/96 at the Mardi Gras Cafe.
  3. A reminder was made concerning the next Semi Annual Catfish Fishing Outing at Rainbow Lake scheduled for 3/9/96. During the discussion, it was discovered that Rainbow Lake had closed apparently due to an algae problem, therefore, the Catfish Fishing Outing will have to be cancelled for now.
  4. A reminder was made concerning the next Annual Family Camp Out scheduled for 3/29/96 – 3/30/96 at Inks Lake State Park. Note:  this event was rescheduled for 4/12/96 – 4/13/96 because the last weekend in March was not a good weekend for the boat providers.
  5. A reminder was made concerning the next General Meeting scheduled for 4/4/96 at Larry Dowden’s home.
  6. The meeting was closed by the Vice President Emeritus/Editor.

1/6/96 General Meeting

The meeting was held at the 1996 Winter Dove Retreat.  Forty men and offspring attended the retreat.  Issues of the October – December 1995 Hunting His Way were distributed.  The minutes from the business meeting are as follows:

  1. The meeting was called to order by the President.
  2. A reminder was made concerning the next General Meeting scheduled for 2/1/96 at New Hope Church.

  4. A reminder was made concerning the next Semi Annual Catfish Fishing Outing at Rainbow Lake scheduled for 3/9/96.
  5. A reminder was made concerning the next Annual Family Camp Out scheduled for 3/29/96 – 3/30/96 at Inks Lake State Park.
  6. The meeting was closed by the President.
