1992 Hunting Trips Reports
By
9/25/92 – 9/27/92 Fall Dove Retreat
Seventeen hunters attended the 2nd Annual Fall Dove Retreat on 9/25/92 – 9/27/92 on James Wade’s property. Although large amounts of dove were not present the fellowship was reported to be the best. There was one procession of faith. Special thanks to James for making his land available to the Club, Mark Weaver for his sermon, and Todd Riddle for leading the music.
4/3/92 – 4/5/92 Hog Hunt
Thirteen men and four sons (17 participants) attended the first-ever Hog Hunt on 4/3/92 – 4/5/92 at the Uno Mas Ranch in LaSalle County. Kevin Font shot two hogs, including a boar that weighed about 200 lbs., and Keith Miller shot a boar that weighed 210 lbs.
Thanks to Paul Wilson for arranging and organizing the hunt. Paul put a lot of effort into the event. There are very few landowners who would allow a group that they do not know to hunt their land without a fee. Usually. a hunt fee and a trophy fee of several hundred dollars are charged for big boars. The deal that Paul negotiated (one day’s work for one day’s hunt) was truly incredible. Also, thanks to Randy Slagle for saving everyone’s bacon by pulling their vehicles out of the mud with his truck.
3/26/92 and 3/28/92 Texas Hunter Education Course
John Murray and Monte Otts completed, and Mark Weaver partially completed, the Texas Hunter Education Course presented by Dan Bech on 3/26/92 and 3/28/92 at the MMTW Clinic. Thanks to Jim Wade for making club members aware of the course, Mr. Bech for his willingness to present the course to a small number of people, and Paul Wilson for the use of the MMTW clinic.
1/17/92 – 1/19/92 Winter Dove Retreat
Sixteen Men (nine members and seven visitors) and three sons (nineteen participants) hunted at the 2nd Annual Winter Dove Retreat on 1/17/92 – 1/19/92 on James Wade’s property. Over 200 dove were killed. Thanks to James for allowing others to hunt on his property, Paul Wilson for organizing and ring-leading the event, Mark Weaver for his sermon, and Todd Riddle for leading the music. Videos of the retreat were shown at the 1/30/92 General Meeting.
