10/7/25 Ministry Event (National Night Out Dinner)
Five FCS members served the Lord and the residents of the Pathways at Northgate apartments (for people who are disabled or involuntarily displaced by a natural disaster or government action) during the National Night Out (“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. The state of Texas and select areas celebrate the first Tuesday in October”).
The participants cooked around 18 burgers and 54 hot dogs and served around 30 people. Thanks to Paul Irwin, Pat Nunnelly, Randy Rowley, Daryl Shipper, and Tim Zyla for volunteering.
6/18/25 Ministry Event (Wild Game Dinner; Report by Tim Zyla)
This past Wednesday, June 18th, eight of our FCS brothers attended our Annual Game Dinner at St, Georges Court Apartments. For those who do not know this complex houses residents 62 and older who have some sort of disability. FCS does this ministry event each year and I encourage each one of you to try and attend at least once – there is no better way to serve our God and our community then by helping and serving others in need.
Just about 30+ residents enjoyed a menu of fish, game, and other sides – the residents are always happy to see FCS roll in to provide dinner, and this year was no different. They all enjoyed the meal and were very appreciative of all we do for them.
Someone had to do all the frying of the sides and fish – Big Shout Out to Randy Rowley for manning the 2 fryers the entire time. It’s a thankless job but one that put smiles on the residents faces, I mean who doesn’t love some fried fish with a side of fries? – Thank You, Randy.
Last but not least I cannot thank the guys enough who showed up on the day of the event to cook & serve – this is where the rubber meets the road and these gents stepped up and cannot be thanked enough – Daryl Shipper, Binh Chu & son Harley, Randy Rowley, Wayne Weilnau, Burl Fulenwider, and Kevin McConnell. It was an honor and privilege to serve with you all. God Bess you for you servants heart.
I’d also like to give a shout out to the members whose donations of duck, quail, dove, pheasant, chukar, white bass, redfish, catfish, blackbuck antelope sausage, venison burgers, pulled pork, and stew made this all possible it wouldn’t be a “game” dinner without their donations. Those who made donations included Russ Gibbs, John Bobo, Raul Pena, Rick Brettnacher, Kevin McConnell, and Randy Rowley.
