Fillet Knives

By

What fillet knives do you recommend that don’t have to be sharpened frequently?

Corded

The striper guides who I know that fish on Lake Buchanan use the titanium blade version of the American Angler Pro Electric Fillet Knife with 5 Blades AMA32352.  Titanium blades will stay sharp longer, but that version is no longer available on American Angler’s website, so they’re hard to find.

Cordless/rechargeable

The striper guides who I know that fish on Lake Buchanan don’t like cordless/rechargeable knives.  They say that their motors don’t last.  However, they clean fish several times a week, so for the weekend fishermen they’ll probably be just fine.

Rapala R12 Heavy-Duty Lithium Fillet Knife Combo & Replacement 9” Blade has a good reputation.  If I were to buy a rechargeable knife, this would be the one.

Kevin McConnell likes the Bubba Blade Lithium Ion Electric Fillet Knife with 4 Blades.

Regular Fillet Knives

Dexter 8” fillet knife.  Out of all the fillet knives that I’ve owned, this one seems to hold its edge the longest.  Their 8” version is a good compromise between their sometimes too small 7” and sometimes too big 9” versions

For big, bony fish I like the Danco Pro Series 9″ Serrated Fillet Knife.  A serrated knife goes a long way in keeping regular fillet knives sharp.

Burl Fulenwider likes the Bubba 9” fillet knife.
