11/7/99 Sporting Clays Shoot
Four shooters (one NAC officers, two NAC members, and one NAC youth member) had a great time at the Quarterly Shotgun Shoot held on Saturday, November 7, 1999, (originally scheduled for November 20, 1999) at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
I, Randy Rowley, jumped out to an early lead, shooting 22 out of my first 25 targets. Starting with the sixth station I slumped and finished with a score of 38/50. Ron Denison came in second with his best score of 30/50, shooting 12 out of his first 25 and 18 out of his second 25. Dennis Koch came in third with 23/50. He was followed by Ryan Rowley with 14/50.
The course was the same as the August shoot except for station 8, which offered a more difficult presentation (a 45 degree angle shot instead of a 90 degree angle shot).
8/28/99 Sporting Clays Shoot
Three NAC officers, four NAC members, two NAC youth members, and one guest (10 total participants) had a great time at the 8/28/99 Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
Tim Price jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. He came in first place with an FCS sporting clays record of 43/50. I, Randy Rowley, and Larry Dowden battled back and forth for second place. By the fifth station Larry had a two bird lead but I shot 23 out of my last 25 and came out on top by one bird, finishing with 39/50 (my best). Larry finished with 38/50 (his best also). He was followed by Eddy Chance with 30/50 (tying his best score), shooting 10 out of his first 25 and 20 out of his second 25, Jesse Price with his best score of 29/50, losing to Eddy on the last station, Dennis Koch with his best score of 28/50, Ron Denison with his best score of 24/50, shooting 7 out of his first 25 and 17 out of his second 25, Darin Koch with 23/50, Adam Dowden with 22/50, and William Wade with 6/50.
The group shot a best combined 282/400 (.705).
6/12/99 Laser Tag Competition
The Laser Tag competition on June 12, 1999 at Laser X was attended by one NAC officer, one NAC youth member, and two guests (four participants). Robin Rowley came in third place (we played with several other contestants). Randy Rowley came in fifth.
5/22/99 5 Stand Shoot
One NAC officer, two SAC officers, two NAC members, one NAC youth member, and four SAC guests (10 total participants) had a fierce competition at the 5/22/99 5 Stand Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club.
For the first time ever we shot 5 Stand instead of sporting clays. For the first 25 targets we shot all singles and for the second 25 targets we shot all doubles. David Chalmers came in first place with 45/50. T.J. Lubina came in second place with 42/50. Tim Price came in third place with 39/50. He was followed by me, Randy Rowley, with 38/50, Hubert Jarc with 32/50, Warren Hoke with 31/50, Carlton Moore with 27/50, Ron Denison with 20/50, and Ryan Rowley with 19/50.
The shooters enjoyed 5 Stand shoot immensely. We especially enjoyed the second round (doubles), which went considerably faster than all singles. We also liked the facts that 5 Stand was cheaper ($16.00 compared to $19.50 for sporting clays), all the traps were close together (minimal walking), and there was ample shade. However, we agreed that traditional sporting clays offers more targets that fly similarly to real birds.
2/20/99 Sporting Clays Shoot
History was made once again at the 2/20/99 Sporting Clays Shoot at the Capitol City Trap & Skeet Club. Jim McGee jumped out to an early lead of three birds over Tim Price, going 10 out of 10 on the first station. There was no change after the second station. Tim went 10 for 10 on the third and tied it all up. However, Jim jumped back to a three bird lead on station four. Tim tied it up for the final time by going 8 for 10 on the last station. Both men ended up with 37/50. Jim also set a new FCS record by breaking two birds with one shot three times! He did it twice after he had missed the first shot!
Regarding Tim, FCS members now believe that he has been abducted by space aliens and replaced with an imperfect clone. During the last two FCS Sporting Clays Shoots he was defeated once and tied once. Although shooting 36/50 and 37/50 for his last two outings is pretty darn good!
Warren Hoke and David Chalmers tied for second with 34/50. I, Randy Rowley, came in third with 28/50. I was followed by Eddy Chance with 25/50, Shawn McGee with 23/50, Larry Dowden with 20/50, guest, first time shooter, and 13-year-old Joey Ferreiro with 13/50, Ron Denison and Ryan Rowley with 10/50, and guest John Matthews with 7/50.
