Events (Includes Events Policies and the 2026 Events Calendar)

By

FCS is a growing, dynamic sportsmen’s organization.  For the last 15 years (and 18 out of the previous 20 years), we have had more events than there are weeks in the year, or as many events as there are weeks in the year.  As the bird hunting seasons limit events planning, we frequently have more than one event on the same day during the various bird hunting seasons.

  • Coastal Prairie Outdoors – Keith Miller (near Brookshire and Eagle Lake; teal, ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes) – 281-433-7782 – $200.  We have no experience with them.
  • Double Sprig Outdoors hunts near El Campo via pit and mobile blinds, depending on what their scouting the day before looks like.  Their hunts are conducted over a variety of moist soil units, Ducks Unlimited project ponds, flooded rice, and other flooded agriculture fields.  Kevin Roberts – 979-451-7992.  They charge $250 / hunter.  It’s about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Austin.  Six FCS hunters bagged two GWT on 12/16/23 with them and he didn’t offer to clean our birds.
  • DuckN’ Cover Outfitters near Maypearl, SW of Waxahachie.  They have blinds and can hunt up to four hunters.  During the 2023 / 2024 season they charged $150 a hunter.  As it’s about a three-hour drive, hunters will probably want to go up the night before and stay in a motel (we can put two people per room with two queen sized beds to defray costs).  Connor Pudgurney – phone – 469-901-8484, email Connormak4280@gmail.com.  We have no experience with them and don’t know if they get teal during the early teal season.
  • Rayce Jenkins (near El Campo; teal, ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes) – 979-541-6743 – $225.  FCS hunters have had several successful hunts with Rayce.
  • Pradera Hunting Club (near East Bernard / Wharton; teal, ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes) – Ragan Brock – raganbrock@yahoo.com, 281-750-6901 – $250.  Four FCS hunters bagged five teal and one dove with them on 9/10/23.
  • The Drake Plantation (near Winnie; teal, ducks, and geese) – Brian Fischer (owner) – 409-656-5765, Spencer Cuniff (owner / guide) – 409-656-6348 – $200.  We have no experience with them, but Mike Walsh highly recommends them.  During a past poll, no respondent wanted to drive that far.
  • Three Curl Outfitters / Brett Jepsen (near Frost; teal and ducks only) – 469-289-1464 – $200.  Four FCS hunters bagged 21 ducks with him on 12/23/14.
  • Waterfowl Unlimited / Tim Kelley (near Eagle Lake; teal, ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes) – waterfowlou@yahoo.com, 832-361-0868 – $275 (teal), $300 (ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes) – price includes breakfast.  Four hunter minimum.  Clayton Carrier had good hunts with them.

Duck guides – the above, plus:

  • Jon and Edward Mahan (Rockport / Bay City; ducks only) – 361-319-1713 -$225.  FCS hunters bagged four ducks with them in 2022 and three ducks with them in 2023.
  • Tenney Creek Outfitters / Jack Chamberland (near McMahan; ducks only) – 512-360-7344 – $175.  FCS hunters bagged eight ducks on 12/1/18 and eight ducks on 1/14/17 with them.
