2/22/21 State of the Club Report
By
2020 was a poor year for FCS. Covid concerns drastically affected our attendance and, to a lesser degree, the number of events we had. If we had not secured the Bartlett season dove lease again the 25 people on the lease probably would have gone on at least one of our day dove hunts, which would have increased our total attendance substantially. Highlights include:
- Our attendance was 259 people, 199 fewer people than in 2019, and our 22nd best. It was our worst attendance in 17 years – since 2003.
- We had 60 events, 14 fewer events than the 74 that we planned, and 17 fewer events than in 2019, but it was still our eighth best.
For a year-by-year comparison, see our Events Statistics page.

- We averaged 4.32 attendees per event, which was our 32nd best. This is not a significant concern. I took people on 22 events in my boat (18 Self-chartered Freshwater Fishing Trips, three Self-guided Inland Duck Hunts, and a Self-guided/chartered Inland Blast and Cast (Teal hunt and Crappie Fishing Trip)). As I can only fit four people in my boat, counting me, those trips contributed to making our overall average low. For a year-by-year comparison, see our Events Statistics page.
- We had record attendance at a Guided Upland Bird Hunt (13 participants on 2/22/20), a Self-guided Teal Hunt (from a boat) (five participants on 9/26/20), and a Guided Sandhill Crane Hunt (four participants on 1/12/20). Two Self-chartered Bass Fishing Trips tied our record (four participants – 3/2/20 and 3/28/20). For a year-by-year comparison, see our Events Statistics and Attendance pages. Also, see our Records page (there is not a year-by-year comparison).
- Our Hog Hunt category attendance set a new record with 30 participants, and our Upland Bird (Pheasant, Chukar, and Quail) Hunt category tied the record with 22 participants. For a year-by-year comparison, see our Events Statistics and Attendance pages.
- During Fiscal Year 2020 (9/1/19 – 8/31/20) we took in $1450.96 in membership dues which is for single and multiple year renewals of 2, 3, and 5 years. Allocated 2020 membership revenue is $1142.04. We spent $1230.23, for a net loss of ($88.19). For the ministry fund, we took in $60.46 and spent $164.28, for a net loss of ($103.82).

We have 52 events planned for this year. See our Calendar for details, including the list of which officers will oversee which events.
I was excited to welcome Jonathan Fleming as our Membership Director in 2020. Jonathan is doing a bang-up job!
I’m also excited that George Reid and Ted Lieb agreed to become administrators for our FCS Facebook Group in January 2021.
I’ll be happy for someone to take over the Secretary job from me. For its job description, see Section IV. Officers in the Bylaws. Many hands make light work.
I hope that many more FCS members and guests will soon return to participating in FCS events.
